An Improv Workshop in English.

What It Is NOT:

This workshop is not about sketch comedy, “game of the scene,” or the fast-paced, joke-heavy improv. Those styles draw from talent like quick wit, verbal agility, and structured approaches like the “yes, and” technique, finding the unusual thing, and heightening patterns. While those elements are valuable, this workshop will take a different path.

What It IS:

In this workshop, we will dive into a form of improv that does not actively seek out the joke. Instead, we’ll immerse ourselves in our characters’ perspectives, responding naturally and authentically in the moment. There’s no plotting or planning—just being present in the scene.

If your background is in more “gamey” improv styles like short form or associative longform, this approach may feel like a significant shift. That’s why this workshop will be very hands-on, with plenty of coaching and experimentation within our small group of eight. We’ll explore scenes with a different mindset, creating not just laughs but also honest, emotional, and unexpectedly touching moments. Remember, laughter and genuine emotion can coexist beautifully.
